*Oyo Govt Seals Agrited, Jubaili Animal Health, Others Over Veterinary Law Violations*
The Oyo State Government has sealed the premises of Agrited Nigeria Ltd, Jubaili Animal Health, and several other veterinary outlets for violating provisions of the Oyo State Private Veterinary Premises and Veterinary Establishment (Regulation) Law, 2017.
The enforcement exercise, led by officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, followed routine inspections which revealed that the affected facilities were operating without proper registration of their veterinary premises, in contravention of regulatory requirements.
Speaking on the development, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye, through the Deputy Director of Veterinary Services, Dr. Olaoye Olakunle, said the action was taken to protect animal health, ensure food safety, and safeguard public health.
He reiterated that all veterinary premises and practitioners are required by law to register with the government annually for effective monitoring. This, he said, is necessary to curb the spread of zoonotic diseases and eliminate quackery in the sector. He emphasized that any violator shall face the full wrath of the law.
The Commissioner also made it clear that the enforcement drive is a continuous exercise and will not stop until all erring facilities are brought into full compliance.
He therefore called on all private veterinary practitioners across the state to regularize their operations by ensuring their outlets and premises are properly registered as required by law.
Among the sealed outlets were Tosam Integrated Services Ltd, Pre Pet Shop, and others.
The enforcement team included the Chairman of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association, Dr. John Famoyin; the President of the Association of Private Veterinary Medical Practitioners, Dr. Awoyele Adebayo; and other key stakeholders in the veterinary field.
