Revamping Agriculture in Oyo State: Engr. Seyi Makinde’s Transformational Drive

Seyi Makinde has continued to record landmark achievements in agriculture through strategic programmes and initiatives aimed at boosting food security, empowering farmers, and modernizing the agricultural sector. One of the most remarkable interventions is the 50% tractorisation subsidy programme, which has so far benefited 6,103 farmers as of September 8, 2025, with the programme still ongoing. This initiative has significantly reduced the burden of mechanized farming costs, making modern farming practices more accessible to local farmers. The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has restated his vision of how he believes he will pass away, peacefully, on a Sunday, after attending church service and eating his favourite meal, pounded yam. Speaking on the fourth day of the church’s ongoing International Convention themed “The Overcomers”, Adeboye said death does not always come through prolonged illness and that his departure would be sudden and painless. “I will die on a Sunday after attending service, eat my beloved pounded yam, and then pass on without any sickness,” he declared. The cleric noted that he first shared this vision two years ago and was repeating it to reassure believers that death can be peaceful for those in Christ. *Oyo Govt Seals Agrited, Jubaili Animal Health, Others Over Veterinary Law Violations*

The Oyo State Government has sealed the premises of Agrited Nigeria Ltd, Jubaili Animal Health, and several other veterinary outlets for violating provisions of the Oyo State Private Veterinary Premises and Veterinary Establishment (Regulation) Law, 2017. The enforcement exercise, led by officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, followed routine inspections which revealed that the affected facilities were operating without proper registration of their veterinary premises, in contravention of regulatory requirements. The Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Bayo Lawal, today convened a strategic stakeholders' meeting with contractors handling projects under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), with a view to fast-tracking implementation and ensuring adherence to quality standards. The meeting, held at the Conference Room of the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, had in attendance the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye; the Project Coordinator, Oyo RAAMP, Engr. Mrs. Adeola Ekundayo; as well as key officials and representatives of contracting firms involved in the project.

Oyo Govt Reaffirms Commitment to Complete All Ongoing Projects Before 2027

The Oyo State Government has reiterated its unwavering commitment to complete all ongoing infrastructural projects across the state before the end of the current administration in 2027. This assurance was given by the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Bayo Lawal, during an on-the-spot monitoring visit to ongoing projects under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP). *Oyo Govt. Trains 250 Retirees on Agro-Business*

The Oyo state government has trained about Two Hundred and fifty (250) retirees in agricultural practices and Micro-Livestock Management. The training, which was organized by the State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development under SAfER program, held at the local government hall, Secretariat, Ibadan on Wednesday also had in attendance some intending retirees in the Oyo State civil service. According to the Head of service, Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, the training is part of the government’s efforts to enhance food security. Oni stated that agriculture remains the backbone of Nigeria’s economy. She noted that Oyo State is blessed with fertile land and a favorable climate, offering vast opportunities for agricultural productivity.
